Holistic and natural approach treatments.

Acupuncture
This ancient Chinese Medicine dates back at least two and a half thousand years. The cliche goes that and Acupuncturist treats the person with the illness, not the illness itself, therefore I am happy to treat anyone with any illness or even those who are well as a preventative medicine and who want to remain well. Most people associate Acupuncture as a form of pain relief as well as a good way to balance or be more in control of our emotions. I have had particular success in treating people with arthritis, frozen shoulder, sciatica, anxiety, depression, chronic obstructive disorder, lupus, irritable bowel syndrome, hay fever and digestive disorders. Acupuncture is very useful for treating people with addictions and usually fine needles are placed into the ears to treat this illness. A treatment includes a thorough case history followed by a treatment whereby the pulses on the wrists are taken, the tongue observed and fine needles are inserted into acupuncture points of which there are over 400 throughout the 14 channels (meridians) of energy (Qi). It is usually recommended that a person has a series of treatments either weekly, fortnightly or monthly until they are feeling better.

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy massage is a great stress reliever. The massage itself helps to release muscular tension which also has a soothing effect on the mind. Natural, essential oils are blended together, each oil having their own unique therapeutic benefit. Some examples are; rosemary known for its stimulating effect which can help the memory, lemon, orange, grapefruit and other citrus oils are known for their uplifting and enlivening effect - good to use, for example, in a morning shower. Peppermint is a cooling oil and when added to a foot bath can help to cool and refresh. Tea tree and thyme are known for their antibacterial qualities and can help fungal infections or relieve sore throats. Geranium is a subtle hormone balancer and is particularly good for women’s health. During a treatment essential oils are added to a base oil and are massaged into the skin. A certain amount of oil enters the blood stream whereby it can be of benefit to the person. Oils must always be used with caution as over-use can become toxic to people. This treatment is particularly good for those with any bone disease, such as, arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis.

Reflexology
This ancient Egyptian foot massage has many health benefits, including, being very relaxing and a great stress reliever. All the areas of both feet reflect a corresponding internal organ or area of the body, for example, the heart, liver or lungs or shoulders. Treatments can help to relieve back ache, headaches and improve sinusitis. During a treatment both feet are massaged with a peppermint cream using finger and thumb pressure. The areas of the feet from toes to heels reflect the person from head to the base of their spine. People with painful and swollen feet can benefit greatly from a reflexology massage.
